Georgie Lake Transmission LineOwner: GDF Suez North America
Project Description: R&R was responsible for the design and construction of 40 km of 138 kV wood pole transmission line connecting Cape Scott Wind Farm substation with the BC Hydro substation in Port Hardy, BC. The transmission line ran through tough, boggy terrain, and biologically sensitive areas. R&R completed access trails and roads in this terrain, which was considered impossible due to the geographic constraints, while remaining environmentally compliant. The design, material procurement, clearing, construction, and commissioning of the transmission line took just 7 months, assisting the owner in making their power delivery commitment to BC Hydro.
